The Colors of Time
Mustard yellow now golden wheat.
Glossy fire engine red now wilted crimson.
Moonlight blue now worn denim.
Rich pigments of rust overtake the colors
of days gone by, coating them with its burnt crust.
Cracking, chipping, peeling, fading, seeping
all leave layers exposed and character transformed.
The magic of time relentlessly amends the
glittering intensity of new and creates a
frayed vanity of old,
an ever-shifting beauty.

I wrote this poem with this photo in mind. I submitted both to a photography journal called Life Images. Hope to be published in the Fall issue... wish me luck!
